What is it about drugs? People still will find a way to experiment and demand the freedom to put things into their own body. Once addicted to the chemicals, crime escalates for the continued access. Providers (dealers) make profit and sometimes provide unhealthy or fatal product. Governments spend billions trying to stop people from experimenting, but mostly go after the profit minded providers, with dismal results.. a losing battle. Couldn't we just regulate. Remove the profit and the dealer. Disarm the addict, have them relinquish identity by self-admittance to communal government ran half-way house. The cost for pure safe drug is pennies instead of thousands, financing vice patrolmen and policement and just say no, a thing of the past. Addicts will not kill, rob family members, or steal to get their next fix. Prohibition didn't stop the sale of alcohol, it just increased the sales to the middlemen who took the risk. Maybe we are just waiting on the world to change.
